My family and I went on the one day the weather was bearable last week. Very low number of people there and the animals were great to see. The tiger was sleeping, but the keepers put straw close to the glass so it would sleep where folks could really see it. Lionesses were snuggling and sleeping but also in a place where you could watch them. Snow leopard, polar bears and primates were active, especially the orangutan. A family had brought a baby and the orangutan was puckering up, wanting to kiss the baby. So sweet. My niece and I bought geodes from the gift shop. We chiseled them open at home and they were very sparkly. What a fun day!!

Amazing Zoo! Such a diverse group of animals. And they were all visible. They were all easy to see, the enclosures were beautiful, and the layout was easy to get around. I really enjoyed walling around the zoo, and it was played out in a way that really worked. I would definetly go back to this zoo. Several u ique aspects like the way you csn go UNDER the polar bear and snow weapons exhibits! So cool!!

This zoo was by far the best zoo we’ve ever been to! What an amazing experience. My daughter’s birthday wish was to specifically to visit Amber the orangutan! We took a road trip from Michigan to Kentucky just to see her but she wasn’t the only highlight of our visit. We spent the entire day there and nearly every exhibit was an up close and personal experience. Here my tip- go on a rainy day! We picked a perfect Saturday to go- it was rainy so we had the zoo practically to ourselves.

Roughly recommend it. Been to many zoos in my past and this is one of the better zoos you can go to. Their bear enclosures were so neat to to see.

Only note is be prepared to walk a lot. They have a tram but you will miss out on some animals.

Visited on a Friday in October. Two kids aged 7&8, and three adults, one being a senior.
The weather was optimal for a day at the zoo.
Arrived at 10, which is opening time. The line quickly formed and we are members so we went to the shorter line but still waited 3-5 minutes. Once inside, scanned the area looking for a map. Was greeted and learned no paper maps are available but we're offered a QR code to scan for a map.
Four exhibits were closed without notice so we ventured a distance to see the exhibits before learning they were closed. The gorillas looked so sad and bored which is a huge bummer. The Koala wouldn't show it's cute face. Which I don't blame anyone/anything for this just sharing our experience.
The bees were horrible around trash cans and slushie machines. Literally fighting bees to get our slushy. Fought one and it won ?
Had three pretzels, three fountain drinks (without lids or straws which drew the bees again) two slushies and one bag of popcorn and spent $50+.
The park is clean which is nice, the animals appeared clean and healthy, yay!
Visited the gift shop at the end of the day and was sad to see the penny crusher machine is broken but we did score a penny book with a zoo penny included plus space to put our other Penny's.

Needs: maps posted throughout park
Penny machine repaired
Lids and straws
Bees controlled
More signage throughout.

Pros: animals are beautiful and cared for
Free unlimited rides and discounts with membership card

The whole family had a lot of fun that day.
Surprisingly a lot bigger than expected.
Bring swimsuits as they have a splash pad area and also a little playground
Great to bring your lunch,snacks,drinks.
If you are a smoker they claim to have designated spots for smoking - which there only seemed to be one spot near the splash pad area - just fyi.
Went on a Friday and it wasn't crowded
I always buy tickets in advance but there was no wait for tickets or to get in

Going to the Louisville Zoo was a great experience! The carrousel by the entrance is great, but you have to purchase a separate ticket for that. The booth for it is right next to the carrousel, it's something like $8 or $10 per person. They also have camel rides with a seperate ticket purchase next to the ride as well, that's $8 per person. The family bathrooms were nice and well kept. The only thing about them I didn't like as much was some had the kid size sink, but not kid size toilet and vice versa . It would make more sense to have both....overall it was great. There were many photo opportunities around the zoo and lots of different animals to see. The snacks are alright. I tried their dole whip ice cream cone, pretty good. The more you walk, the more snack options there are. There's a small place to eat something a bit more filling towards the middle of the zoo. They have things like burgers, fries, chicken, etc. We really enjoyed taking my niece and nephew
